Junior Pricing Data Scientist

Overview

Marshmallow is seeking a Junior Pricing Data Scientist to join its pricing department in London. The pricing team applies quantitative methods to real insurance problems, helping individuals turn data into meaningful outcomes. In this position, participants work closely with a senior pricing team member to bring a quantitative background into an industry setting, developing practical judgement and independence to eventually lead substantial work.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a research master's degree or a PhD in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, physics, or econometrics, accompanied by a strong academic record. Applicants are required to have experience applying machine learning or quantitative methods to a practical problem through studies, research, personal projects, or work. While industry experience through a placement, internship, or work between degrees is preferred, it is not mandatory. Applicants must also be able to explain how their chosen approach fits a given problem beyond mere theory, communicate findings clearly, take ownership of tasks, and follow through on agreed actions. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
