Jane Goodall Institute Social Media Consultant Job 2026: Remote Part-Time Opportunity
Overview
The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is looking for a part-time Social Media Consultant to join its Communications and Partnerships team as a contractor. The work can be done remotely, and the organization is headquartered in Washington, DC. The consultant produces short-form video, photography and visual storytelling to show the work of JGI, its Roots and Shoots youth movement, its research programmes and its sanctuary sites.
Monthly output is defined. The consultant creates four short-form videos optimized for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and emerging channels, sourcing footage and images from approved JGI archives and adding captions, music, graphics and motion elements. They also create eight social media posts about Roots and Shoots projects and youth leaders across the United States, working with JGI staff to find suitable stories, and four posts on research and sanctuary work such as wildlife stories, conservation achievements and chimpanzee rehabilitation. All content must follow JGI's brand standards and messaging priorities, with formats adapted to improve engagement and reach.
Who can apply
JGI wants one to three years of social media experience and demonstrated success creating short-form video for mission-driven organizations or causes. Needed skills include content creation, video editing, photo selection and optimization, social graphics, written communication, editorial judgment, working within brand guidelines and platform-specific optimization. Applicants also need Microsoft Office and familiarity with basic video editing and design tools such as Canva. The consultant should be comfortable working independently and remotely while collaborating with staff to gather approved material.
What you get
Compensation is $25 to $50 per hour on a part-time contractor basis, with a flexible remote arrangement.
