Overview

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is offering an internship in the United Kingdom with its Korean Visa Application Center (KVAC), which supports administrative visa-related services for the Embassy and Consulate of the Republic of Korea through centers in Europe. The internship lasts two to six months. The intern works under the KVAC Team Leader alongside Visa Support Assistants, and the role suits those interested in migration, visa services, administration, customer service and multicultural workplaces. IOM was established in 1951 and works with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners on migration.

Who can apply

The programme targets students and recent graduates, preferably in Humanities, Social Sciences or similar fields. Candidates should either be in the final year of a first university degree at bachelor's level or equivalent, or have graduated within the previous 12 months. They must be between 20 and 36 years old with less than two years of relevant work experience.

Requirements

Fluent written and spoken English is required, and Korean or another official IOM language is an advantage. Language ability may be assessed in writing or orally. Applicants should work well in an international team, have strong computer literacy, good Microsoft Office knowledge and specific Excel proficiency, and ideally some customer service or public assistance experience. IOM expects inclusion and respect for diversity, integrity and transparency, professionalism, courage and empathy, plus teamwork, delivering results, knowledge sharing, accountability and communication.

The intern helps with the center's daily operations: receiving and sorting visa applications delivered by post, supporting passport and document logistics, organizing supporting documents against checklists, contacting applicants about missing documents and passport collection, joining project meetings and training, working with KVAC teams in Berlin, Paris and The Hague, and assisting with daily, weekly and monthly reports.

What you get

Interns may receive a small monthly stipend depending on experience and location, with no fixed amount stated. Those who already receive an internship allowance or scholarship with remuneration or coursework credits from a university or sponsor may not be eligible for the stipend. IOM covers occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan, and interns arrange their own medical insurance for other conditions.

How to apply

Applications are submitted through IOM's e-Recruitment system, and only shortlisted candidates are contacted. IOM states that it charges no recruitment fee at any stage and does not request bank-account information.

Key dates

The deadline is October 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM, and late applications are not accepted.
