Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group Internship Program 2026: Paid Internships for Students and Recent Graduates in Washington, D.C. & Worldwide
Overview
The Inter-American Development Bank Group runs a paid internship programme for students and recent graduates interested in international development. Internships are offered with the Inter-American Development Bank, IDB Invest and IDB Lab, at headquarters in Washington, D.C. and in country offices across Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe. Interns work with international, multicultural teams on projects with public and private sector clients.
What you get
The Washington, D.C. programme offers two months of hands-on experience with teams that provide operating and corporate solutions. It runs twice a year, with a winter internship from January 16 to March 15 and a summer internship from June 16 to August 15, and dates may shift slightly for holidays. Country office internships follow no fixed cohort, depend on each office's needs and generally last 2 to 6 months. The IDB has 26 offices across Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as offices in Asia and Europe.
Who can apply
For Washington, D.C., applicants must be citizens of one of the IDB Group's 48 member countries, although IDB Invest positions have no citizenship restrictions. For country offices, applicants must generally be citizens or legal residents of the country where the office is located. Applicants must be able to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the internship, and be an undergraduate who has completed at least two years or a graduate student who has completed at least 50% of coursework. They must have no relatives working at the IDB, IDB Invest or IDB Lab, and the internship must be their first job with the Group.
How to apply
Applicants may apply for a maximum of three positions. Required documents are a current resume or CV, a university letter confirming enrolment and expected graduation date, and academic transcripts, with both the letter and transcripts issued within the last three months. An unofficial transcript may need to be replaced by an official one later in the process. Applications for Washington typically open three to four months in advance.
