IJM Internships and Fellowships 2026: Build a Safer and More Just World Through Global Service Opportunities
Overview
International Justice Mission (IJM) offers internships and fellowships for people who want to use their skills, professional experience and passion for justice to help build a safer and more just world. Participants gain practical experience and mentorship while serving communities through IJM's work. There are D.C.-based and remote options as well as global placements, aimed at university students, law graduates, bachelor's degree holders and experienced professionals. IJM highlights two kinds of mentorship: spiritual mentorship, in an organisation that practises spiritual formation together daily, and professional mentorship from people invested in participants' growth.
D.C.-based and remote opportunities
These include 2 to 3 month internships and fellowships for second-year university students and beyond, and 6 to 12 month legal fellowships for people with a Juris Doctor degree. Service periods and application windows are as follows. Spring service runs January to April, with applications opening in June. Summer service runs May to August, with applications opening in October. Fall service runs September to December, with applications opening in March.
Global opportunities
Global internships and fellowships are generally 12 months long and are intended for people with a bachelor's degree and/or significant professional experience, including seasoned professionals. Deployments happen annually, in January, and applications generally open 11 to 12 months before the deployment date, so applicants need to plan well ahead.
