Overview

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is recruiting an Assistant, Logistics and Fleet in Bamako, Mali (vacancy number S18541). It is a national position lasting 12 months. The assistant is the focal point for logistics service requests in the IFRC office in Mali and makes sure services are delivered on time, cost-effectively and to the required quality in line with IFRC policies.

What you will do

Procurement work includes applying standard logistics procedures, processing purchase requests, reviewing procurement files, monitoring delivery times and prices, tracking transport and customs clearance, and handling import and export documents for vehicles. For fleet management, the assistant maintains vehicle and passenger safety procedures, keeps driver and vehicle logbooks, prepares monthly fuel reports, plans transport, runs the Fleet Wave system and monitors maintenance schedules.

The role also covers audit compliance and invoice documentation with procurement and finance teams, weekly and monthly logistics reports, recording in-kind donations and stock shipments, monthly physical inventories, and training and support for National Society staff and volunteers. The assistant must be ready for short-notice deployment during emergency responses.

Requirements

Applicants need a diploma in logistics, procurement or supply chain management, or another relevant certification, plus at least four years of experience managing complex logistics operations. Proven experience organizing training and developing training materials is expected, and knowledge of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is required. Useful skills include supply chain knowledge, personnel development, problem-solving, reporting and working across cultures under tight deadlines. Fluent French is required, with good English or another official IFRC language.
