Heifer International Hiring Benefits & People Administrative Assistant – Salary up to $60k
Overview
Heifer International is hiring a Benefits and People Administrative Assistant for its People Operations team. The full-time role is remote within the United States and pays $53,000 to $60,000 per year. Heifer is a global nonprofit working against hunger and poverty by helping farmers, businesses and communities build sustainable livelihoods. Its roots go back to 1944, when founder Dan West proposed giving families livestock rather than short-term food aid, and it now works in 21 countries and has supported more than 36 million farming families.
The assistant reports to the U.S. Total Rewards Manager and works with the Benefits and People Operations Specialist, handling confidential information and employee requests. About half the role is benefits administration, including reviewing monthly vendor invoices against the Benefits Master Ledger, preparing payment documentation, coordinating with benefits brokers, supporting monthly retirement contributions, producing benefits reports, supporting well-being programs and reimbursements and managing anniversary gifts and service awards. The other half is People Operations, including unemployment claims, employment verifications, personnel file requests, HR system entries, new hire and payroll records, HR ticketing, intern and volunteer setup, meeting calendars, engagement planning, reporting and confidential files, with backup support for the wider U.S. People team.
Who can apply
Applicants should have an associate degree or continuing education in human resources, business administration or a related field, though equivalent experience may be considered, plus 2 to 3 years of administrative experience in HR, benefits administration, People Operations or Total Rewards. HRIS experience and Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Word and Outlook, are important, along with an understanding of onboarding, records, benefits and offboarding, organization and confidentiality. The role is open to people who can work from anywhere in the United States, not worldwide. Those near the Little Rock, Arkansas office may have a hybrid arrangement.
What you get
Benefits for eligible U.S. employees include health and wellness programs, flexible spending and health savings accounts, an employee assistance program, a 403(b) retirement plan, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.
How to apply
Candidates prepare an application showing HR administration, benefits, employee records, HR systems and remote collaboration experience.
