Overview

Gulu University is offering a range of academic and non-academic vacancies across its faculties, departments, and administrative units. The public university operates from its headquarters in Gulu City, alongside campuses in Kitgum and Kotido Districts, Hoima City, and a Constituent College Project in Moroto District. The recruitment drive covers fields such as medicine, public health, economics, business, auditing, procurement, engineering, agriculture, chemistry, and laboratory science to support teaching, research, innovation, administration, and technical services.

Who can apply

Professionals with qualifications in medicine, public health, business, auditing, engineering, agriculture, and related disciplines are eligible to apply. Applicants must meet specific criteria regarding educational degrees, professional registrations, licences, and age limits. Age limits range from 30 to 35 years for technician and teaching assistant roles, and up to 45 or 55 years for senior-level positions. Candidates who earned their qualifications outside Uganda must have their academic documents equated by the National Council for Higher Education of Uganda.

What you get

The positions are compensated according to various Gulu University salary scales, specifically PU5, PU6.1, PU6.2, PU7, and PU13. Many of the roles are offered on permanent terms after the successful completion of a six-month probationary period. The Teaching Assistant position is provided on a two-year contract that is renewable once, with the expectation that the appointee will acquire a master’s degree during this timeframe.

Requirements

Applicants must provide all necessary academic credentials, signed and dated curriculum vitae, recent passport photographs, and appointment letters where applicable. Medical and clinical positions require valid registration and practising licences with bodies such as the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council. Certain engineering roles require registration with the Engineers Registration Board, and specific laboratory assistant roles require registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council. Candidates must also submit references from three referees.

How to apply

Interested candidates must submit six hard copies of their application package, which includes an application letter, certified transcripts and certificates, identification documents, and references. Envelopes must be sealed with the specific position applied for clearly marked on the top-right corner. Submissions must be delivered to the University Secretary at Gulu University, P.O. Box 166, Gulu, Uganda.

Key dates

The application deadline is 23 October 2026 at 5:00 PM.
