Overview

The Green Climate Fund (GCF), the world's largest dedicated climate fund, runs an internship programme for motivated Master's and PhD students and recent graduates from all backgrounds. GCF helps developing countries build low-emission, climate-resilient futures and is headquartered in Songdo, Incheon, Republic of Korea. It strongly encourages applications from nationals of developing countries and people with diverse academic and cultural experiences.

What you get

Interns receive a monthly stipend of USD 1,600, free global health insurance and, for international interns, roundtrip airfare. The internship is full-time and on-site at GCF headquarters, on a 6-month contract that can be extended to 12 months based on performance, in a multicultural climate institution.

Who can apply

Applicants must be enrolled in a Master's or PhD programme or be recent graduates, with academic training relevant to GCF's mission, such as climate, environment, finance, data, law, policy, engineering, IT or communications. Excellent English is required, and candidates must be available to work on-site in Songdo. GCF looks for people who think strategically, communicate clearly, collaborate well and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting. Roles currently listed include Intern in the IT Department and Intern in Finance and Accounting, and the list is updated over time.

How to apply

Applicants use GCF's Oracle-based recruitment system to create or update a profile, submit applications and track progress. Selection involves CV screening, an online video interview or written assessment, and a final 30-minute online panel interview.

Key dates

Applications generally open from December to early January, screening, assessments and interviews run from February to May, and the cohort starts in July, though individual start dates may vary. No exact deadline is stated here.
