Overview

Graphcore offers a permanent Graduate SoC Architecture Engineer role based in Bristol, United Kingdom, starting in September 2027. This position forms part of a two-year graduate programme designed to provide hands-on learning within the Silicon Architecture team. Participants work on defining next-generation AI hardware by specifying, modelling, and evaluating complex system-on-chip subsystems alongside experienced mentors and cross-functional engineering teams.

Who can apply

Candidates must hold or expect to achieve a degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field. Applicants are required to have an understanding of digital systems or computer architecture, programming experience in languages such as Python, Rust, or C++, and analytical problem-solving abilities. In addition, applicants must already possess the legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the programme without requiring visa sponsorship, as visa sponsorship is not available for early careers roles.

What you get

The permanent position provides a two-year structured learning experience with mentorship, design reviews, and tasks that grow in technical scope. Employee benefits include flexible working options, up to 5 percent matched pension contributions, phantom equity, income protection, life assurance, and an electric vehicle leasing scheme. Additional flexible and optional benefits include private medical insurance, dental cover, a health cash plan, a cycle to work scheme, and a give as you earn programme. The workplace environment features office spaces equipped with free food and an on-site barista.

Requirements

Applicants need to demonstrate skills through coursework, personal projects, team projects, a dissertation, research, or other relevant experience, and must communicate technical ideas effectively in writing and verbally. While not strictly required, exposure to register-transfer level design, modelling, simulation, PCIe, Ethernet, or DDR is considered a useful additional strength.

How to apply

Interested candidates must submit a CV, a cover letter, and responses to the application questions. Successful applicants will be notified of their application outcome by early December at the latest and subsequently invited to complete a technical assessment. Candidates who advance to the final stage will attend in-person assessments during early spring.

Key dates

The application deadline is midnight on 29th November 2026, though early applications are encouraged since the employer may close applications prior to this date. The programme is scheduled to start in September 2027.
