GIZ Internship 2026: Green Climate Fund Business Development Internship in Germany for Climate and Development Studies Students
Overview
The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a German federal government-owned organisation supporting sustainable development and international cooperation, is offering a full-time internship in Green Climate Fund business development. The placement is in Eschborn, Germany, within the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Liaison Office in GIZ's Client and Business Development Department, and runs from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027.
The liaison office strengthens cooperation between GIZ and the Green Climate Fund by supporting project development, managing partnerships, analysing climate finance opportunities and coordinating proposals for climate-related projects. Interns see how development projects move from ideas to structured proposals and how climate finance supports mitigation and adaptation.
The intern assists project development managers with concepts, coordination and project documents, researches climate finance topics and policy developments, reviews studies and baseline materials with quality checks, and prepares background briefings, particularly in English and French. The role also covers preparing presentations, project plans and meeting materials, supporting meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and joining workshops, team meetings and knowledge management activities.
