Overview
Gender and Disaster Australia Limited (GADAus) is recruiting a Research Officer for a 12-month fixed-term, part-time contract at 0.8 EFT. GADAus works on the link between gender and disaster in Australia, using research, training, advocacy and practical resources to challenge harmful gender stereotypes and strengthen preparedness, response, recovery and resilience. It collaborates with governments, community organisations, researchers and emergency management agencies.
The Research Officer reports to the Research and Innovation Manager and helps plan and deliver research projects that shape disaster policy and practice. Day-to-day work covers qualitative and quantitative research, literature reviews, evidence synthesis, data collection and analysis, and turning findings into reports, policy briefs, presentations and practical resources. The post also involves supporting research frameworks and methodologies, engaging stakeholders, and keeping projects on time and within budget.

The organisation is headquartered in Victoria, but all employees work remotely. Requirements
GADAus wants an organised researcher with experience in research design, project management, data analysis, policy research, stakeholder engagement and report writing. Experience in gender equality, disaster management, public policy or community development is highly regarded. Candidates should communicate clearly in writing and speech, manage several projects at once, work well with varied stakeholders and show a commitment to feminist principles and gender equality.
What you get
The prorated salary is AUD 96,693 per year plus superannuation, based on a full-time rate of AUD 120,866 plus super. The package also includes fully remote work, a flexible schedule, four weeks of annual leave (pro rata), annual leave loading and three extra paid leave days between Christmas and New Year. The contract may be extended, subject to funding.
