Encode AI is seeking a Policy Counsel or Associate Policy Counsel to join its Policy Development Team in Washington, D.C. This full-time position focuses on shaping public policy and establishing legal frameworks to mitigate risks linked to advanced artificial intelligence at both the state and federal levels. The role centers on initiatives addressing frontier AI safety, biosecurity, and child safety. Depending on background and qualifications, the successful candidate may be appointed as either an Associate Policy Counsel or a Policy Counsel.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a law degree and possess roughly one to ten years of relevant legal experience. The organization looks for candidates with strong skills in legal research, legislative drafting, policy development, and communication, along with a commitment to addressing emerging challenges in advanced AI.
