Elba Hope Foundation Seeks Grant Writer for Remote Contract Role at $25 Per Hour
Overview
The Elba Hope Foundation is a nonprofit working toward sustainable progress and better futures for Africans and the African Diaspora, across agriculture, conservation, food security, education, youth advocacy, economic development and social justice. It is looking for a Grant Writer to join its Development Department on a remote, part-time contract. The pay is USD $25 per hour for up to 15 hours per week, with the possibility of more scope and hours depending on performance. Applicants must be located in the United States.
The Grant Writer reports to the Executive Director and is expected to run grant work independently from research through submission. Tasks include researching foundations, NGOs and institutional funders that fit the programs, assessing new opportunities, building a live grants pipeline in tools such as Asana and HubSpot, tracking deadlines and funder communications, and writing grant proposals, concept notes and letters of inquiry. The writer also supports budgets and reporting for awarded grants, keeps a library of reusable narratives and attachments, maintains a pipeline looking six to twelve months ahead, gives weekly updates and advances three to five qualified prospects each month.
Requirements
Applicants should have three to five years of successful grant writing experience, including managing grants from prospect research through submission, building grant budgets, managing pipelines and communicating with funders. Strong research, writing, storytelling and editing skills are essential. Familiarity with funding databases such as Candid/Foundation Directory, GrantStation or Instrumentl, and with CRM and project tools such as HubSpot and Asana, is an advantage. The foundation particularly values a deep contextual understanding of Africa, which may come from professional experience, long-term engagement or lived experience, along with respect for local leadership and community-driven solutions.
How to apply
Candidates submit a resume, a cover letter and a short writing sample from a successfully awarded grant proposal, and redacted samples are accepted. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and no closing date is given.
