EGEN Research Prize 2026: Win Up to $3,000 for Cutting-Edge Research on Gender and Politics
Overview
The EGEN Research Prize 2026 is presented by EGEN in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University. It recognises graduate students and very early career scholars who carry out innovative empirical research on gender and politics. The organisers accept work across many methods and subfields, including quantitative, qualitative and mixed-method approaches, and especially want to encourage emerging scholarship in comparative politics and international relations.
What you get
Selected researchers receive awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, and the exact amount may differ between recipients. Several further applicants receive $500 honorable mentions. Winners are also matched with a mentor from the EGEN executive board for the following year.
Who can apply
The prize is for graduate students and very early career scholars, not established senior academics. Coauthored work is accepted only if every co-author is also eligible. Submissions must be original and must not be generated by AI. Graduate students must provide their advisor's contact information in the application form.
How to apply
The application has several parts. Applicants complete the official online form, which also asks them to name three potential mentors from the EGEN executive board, past or present. They also provide a CV as a PDF named lastname_firstname_CV.pdf and an anonymized version of their most polished piece of writing as a PDF named lastname_firstname_writing sample.pdf. The CV and writing sample are uploaded separately through a Dropbox file request, and the form asks applicants to confirm that both documents were uploaded. Missing the upload step could leave the application incomplete.
