ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) (EBID) English Translator / Interpreter Job 2026: Apply for a Professional Staff Position in Lomé
Overview
The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) is recruiting an English Translator / Interpreter at Professional Staff Grade P2 at its headquarters in Lomé, Togolese Republic. The post reports to the Head of the Language Services Division and covers translation and interpretation for the Bank's economic, financial, legal, administrative, technical and operational work.
The appointee translates sensitive and complex documents from French into English, proofreads and checks translations for accuracy and consistency, and aligns them with other official EBID documents. The role also involves simultaneous interpretation into English at official meetings, plus consecutive and whispering interpretation when needed, including meetings of the Board of Governors, Board of Directors and Management Committee. Further duties include language-technology research, building terminology databases and term banks, and developing lexicological tools.

Requirements
A Master's degree in translation, interpretation, linguistics or a related discipline is expected, along with at least eight years of experience in translation and interpretation. Experience should include multilingual and multicultural settings and financial, legal or development-related documents. Candidates need a perfect command of English and very good French, and Portuguese is an advantage. Knowledge of Computer-Assisted Translation tools is required, as is strong computer literacy, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Analytical, research, listening and time-management skills matter, as do integrity, confidentiality, cultural awareness, adaptability and the ability to work under pressure.
