Overview

Duke University is recruiting a senior faculty member in Global Health Innovation and Policy at the Duke Global Health Institute in Durham, North Carolina, United States. The search is run jointly with the Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy and the Duke Global Health Innovation Center. The appointment is at Associate Professor or Professor level on a non-tenure-track research or practice track, full-time on a 9- or 12-month basis. The initial term is three years, with possible reappointment. The position ID is Duke-DGHI-FACULTY [#32464].

Who can apply

Duke seeks an established expert in global health innovation, health policy, health financing or related areas, such as policy analysis, operational research and scaling innovations in low-resource settings. Innovation is understood broadly as a product, service, programme, enterprise or applied solution that is effective, scalable, sustainable and equitable. Experience with health innovation in low-resource contexts globally is of particular interest. Non-traditional career paths are welcome, including movement between universities, government, multilateral organisations, social enterprises and implementation organisations.

Requirements

Applicants need a strong record of research, publications, stakeholder engagement and leadership, and a significant record of extramural funding from governments, foundations or industry. They should have substantial management experience, since the person may take a faculty leadership role at the Global Health Innovation Center, which could involve managing people and budgets, representing the Center, engaging funders, governments and implementation partners, supporting business development and travelling domestically and internationally.

What you get

Long-term salary support will come mainly from extramural grants, with other internal sources contributing over time through teaching and administrative work. The role includes research, policy engagement, teaching, mentorship and partnership development.
