Overview

The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) is seeking a Communications, Advocacy and Regional Engagement Consultant to support its global communications, advocacy and regional work. The consultancy is part-time and home-based, expected to last one year with a possible extension, and requires about two days of work per week. The start date is immediate. The consultant must have at least four hours of overlap with Central European Time.

What you will do

On communications, the consultant produces and edits stories, blogs, articles, reports and briefs, supports the development of PMNCH's annual report, builds relationships with journalists and editors, pitches stories and opinion pieces, manages the communications calendar and edits partner materials. The role also coordinates social media content on X, BlueSky, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram with consistent messaging and branding.

On advocacy, the consultant supports the United MNCH Advocacy Working Group by working with member organisations, coordinating meetings, following up on actions, and developing advocacy briefs, talking points, position papers and evidence products that align with PMNCH's financing, accountability and regional campaigns.

On regional engagement, the consultant helps oversee selected regional programmes from planning to reporting, may coordinate policy dialogues with governments and partners, contribute to policy briefs and organise capacity-building workshops, working with PMNCH's regional focal points.

Requirements

Applicants need strong experience in communications, advocacy and stakeholder engagement, excellent writing, editing and proofreading, a record of securing media coverage, and experience supporting advocacy coalitions or working groups. Skills in writing policy briefs, running professional social media accounts, keeping editorial calendars, delivering workshops, facilitating policy dialogues and managing deadlines are valuable, as are organisational and project management strengths. Familiarity with content management systems, Mailchimp, Typeform, Brand24, Looker Studio, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage. English fluency is required, and French is an advantage, especially for Francophone Africa.

How to apply

Candidates review the official consultancy requirements and complete the PMNCH application process. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early applications are encouraged.
