Commonwealth Leaders Academy Programmes Associate 2026
Overview
The Commonwealth Leaders Academy (CLA) is looking for a Programmes Associate, a volunteer role providing operational and administrative support for the delivery of its programmes and activities. The role suits an organised, proactive and creative person who wants experience in programme management, communications and international development.
CLA is a Community Interest Company set up to develop the next generation of Commonwealth leaders through leadership development, capacity building, policy engagement and international collaboration. Working closely with governments, youth organisations, universities and development partners, it designs and delivers programmes that empower young people to create meaningful impact across the Commonwealth.
What you get
Volunteers receive a monthly stipend of £100 toward incidental costs of volunteering; it is not a salary or wage. They gain experience supporting international leadership programmes, a chance to build a global professional network, a professional reference based on satisfactory performance and opportunities to contribute to high-profile initiatives.
Requirements
The associate supports the planning and coordination of CLA programmes and events, helps prepare programme materials, reports and documentation, and drafts routine correspondence and follow-up emails. On the communications side, they design presentation slides and briefing materials, support social media content development and scheduling, and assist with newsletters, announcements and promotional materials.
Applicants need excellent written and verbal communication, strong organisation and time management, a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. They should be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, have experience preparing presentations in Canva or PowerPoint, and be familiar with major social media platforms. Experience supporting projects, events or programmes, an interest in youth development, leadership or international affairs, and experience with youth organisations, NGOs or student organisations are desirable.
How to apply
This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. The associate is expected to contribute regularly to agreed activities, with an anticipated commitment of up to 20 hours per week depending on programme needs and the volunteer's availability.
