Overview

Queen Mary University of London is seeking a Clinical Research Fellow to join the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, within the Department of the Wolfson Institute of Population Health. This role supports two major research initiatives, which include Genes and Health, a long-term study involving British Bangladeshi and Pakistani participants with linked genomic and health data, and Black Health Legacy, a Wellcome Discovery Award-funded study focused on diseases affecting Black people in the United Kingdom.

The position provides an opportunity to work within a collaborative research team designed to support allied health professionals and resident doctors in transitioning into clinical academic careers and research fellowships. Research duties are assigned based on the candidate's interests, experience, and skills, alongside study priorities.

Who can apply

Candidates must possess a clinical background as a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or allied health professional. While prior research experience is helpful, it is not strictly required. Applicants need the capacity to think critically, formulate research plans, and develop scientific hypotheses. Ideal candidates are organized, self-disciplined, and driven to improve healthcare outcomes through research that engages underrepresented populations.

What you get

The position offers a salary ranging from £67,325 to £76,582 per annum on a pro-rata basis. Employees receive 30 days of annual leave pro-rata, access to a pension scheme, a season ticket loan program, and professional and personal development opportunities. Additional provisions include inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, campus facilities, and family-friendly work-life balance policies. Where possible, support is provided to undertake part-time clinical work alongside the fellowship.

Requirements

The work arrangement for this position is on-site in the United Kingdom. The contract is offered on a part-time and fixed-term basis.
