Overview

The University of Glasgow is hiring two Clinical Research Fellows within the School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health. Funded by Wellcome Leap’s Visible Programme and led by Professor Colin Berry, the initiative focuses on therapy development research for angina and no obstructive coronary arteries in women. The programme addresses sex-based disparities in cardiovascular health through three linked studies covering disease diagnosis, clinical trial evaluations, and lifestyle exercise therapy.

Who can apply

The positions are designed to attract existing trainees in Cardiology who are looking to gain experience in clinical research. The University welcomes applications from all communities, specifically encouraging individuals from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic community and other protected characteristics that are under-represented at the institution.

What you get

The roles are full-time positions working 35 hours per week with funding provided for up to three years. Fellows will perform all duties under the auspices of the University and are expected to register for a higher degree, using the research material to submit an MD or PhD. Postgraduate students must also participate in the Research Training Programme for generic and transferable skills coordinated by the Graduate School.

Requirements

Appointees will carry out clinical research activities across multiple locations including the Clinical Research and Imaging facilities in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the outpatient clinic at Gartnavel Hospital, the NHS Golden Jubilee hospital, alongside the sponsor team, site staff, and the Robertson Centre for Biostatistics.
