Overview

The Climate and Health Catalyst Awards 2026 give early career researchers up to USD 5,000 in catalytic funding to work at the intersection of climate change and health. They are run by the ARCH Program Consortium and Amref Health Africa through the Pan-African Center for Research and Policy in Climate Change and Health (CPRCCH), with the aim of strengthening the next generation of African climate and health researchers.

The awards do not fund collection of new primary data. Applicants must already hold a climate-and-health dataset, and the money helps move that evidence toward publication, policy influence and practical use. Projects can last up to 12 months.

What you get

The funding can support secondary and statistical analysis, data management and quality assurance, interpreting findings, writing manuscripts, preparing policy briefs, evidence syntheses, dissemination, open-access publication, approved conferences, and communication and collaboration activities. Spending should link directly to these steps.

Beyond money, recipients receive structured mentorship, capacity strengthening in technical and research skills, networking with a Pan-African community of researchers, practitioners and climate and health leaders, knowledge-translation support to turn findings into evidence for decision-makers, and technical guidance on analysis, interpretation, dissemination and final outputs.

Who can apply

The programme is designed for early career researchers who already have climate-and-health evidence and are ready to turn it into research, policy or practice outputs. One applicant group is PhD candidates who have finished the data collection phase, hold an existing climate-and-health dataset, are enrolled in a PhD programme, are registered at an eligible institution and live in an eligible country.

How to apply

The source does not describe the application steps or give a deadline, so applicants should consult the official call for full eligibility details and instructions.
