Overview

C40 Cities is hiring a Project Manager, Strategic and Co-Chair Communications for its Communications team in London. The post is full-time on an indefinite contract, hybrid, with moderate travel, and reports to the Director of Strategic Communications, Media and Partnerships. C40 is a global network of nearly 100 mayors working on the climate crisis and on healthier, more equitable and resilient cities.

The postholder supports strategic communications plans around major milestones, drafts initial plans under the Director, and tracks deliverables, timelines and dependencies. They also monitor the impact of communications, support strategic communications for the Breathe Cities programme, and help run the Communications Network, including agendas, logistics, speaker briefings and follow-up. Drafting key messages, press releases, statements and emails is part of the job.

A central part of the role is supporting communications for C40's Co-Chairs by folding their priorities into the wider milestone strategy and keeping forward plans for engagements, events and announcements. Project management duties include maintaining workflows and administrative systems, project plans, meeting schedules, action trackers and reporting, and attending meetings alongside the Director to record decisions and actions.

Who can apply

C40 wants strong experience in both communications and project management, including drafting professional materials and handling complex stakeholder relationships. Candidates should learn new subjects quickly, work across climate and international policy topics, and have excellent organisation, attention to detail, strategic thinking and written and spoken English. Experience with senior stakeholders and diverse cultures is expected, and extra languages are desirable. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

What you get

The gross salary is £54,920 per year. Benefits include 35 days of paid time off including national holidays, two additional shutdown weeks, flexible working where possible, time off in lieu, parental leave of up to 52 weeks with the first 16 weeks at full salary, professional development, an Employee Assistance Programme, pension arrangements where applicable and private health insurance where public healthcare is unavailable.

How to apply

Applications are accepted only through C40's recruitment website, not by sending CVs or cover letters to the recruitment email. C40 may close the vacancy before the deadline.
