Overview

Bureau Veritas is recruiting a full-time Data Entry Clerk for its OCM Operations department in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The clerk reports to the Data Entry Supervisor and has no supervisory duties. The main task is entering and updating information about received samples in the company's Laboratory Information Management System, known as LIMS, in a high-volume setting.

What you will do

Beyond data entry, the clerk helps troubleshoot problems with incoming samples and works with customers to resolve discrepancies. Other duties include answering telephones and routing calls, filing and sorting documents, and assisting in the sample receiving area when needed. Accuracy matters because errors could create discrepancies in sample records.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum education, and internships and research experience will be considered. Applicants need basic mathematics skills and should be able to read and interpret items such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, and speak effectively before groups of employees. Practical problem-solving is expected, including interpreting instructions given in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. A driver's license is not required.

The job combines computer work with operational tasks. Employees regularly stand, walk, talk, hear and use their hands, and may sit for long periods, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Lifting up to 50 pounds may occasionally be needed, and specific vision abilities are listed. Reasonable accommodations may be made for people with disabilities.

The work environment may involve being near moving mechanical parts and explosive material, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, a risk of electrical shock, and occasional radiation. Noise is usually moderate to low.

Who can apply

The role suits people with a high school diploma or equivalent who want experience in data entry, laboratory operations, administration or sample management. No pay information is given.
