Overview

The Brooke Owens Fellowship Class of 2027 is open to undergraduate women and gender-minority students who want to build careers in aerospace and aviation. The programme is described as internationally accessible. Applicants are assessed as whole people, with attention to experiences, interests, aspirations, creativity, character, service and leadership potential. The Class of 2027 is the 11th group of Fellows. The fellowship is named after Dawn Brooke Owens, an aerospace professional and pilot, and is run by a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Who can apply

Students from all college majors may apply if they are seriously interested in aerospace careers. Applicants do not need to major in aerospace engineering. Fields named include engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, biology, business, communications, art and design, law, public policy and education.

What you get

Fellows take part in a summer internship with a host company, receive one-on-one mentorship from professionals matched to their interests, and attend a professional development summit with the rest of their class. The programme describes access to paid internships and mentorship from senior figures including executives and astronauts. Mentors are hand-selected and relationships begin before the summer positions start. Past Fellows have worked on rocket propulsion, satellite operations, mission planning, aerospace policy, software and research.
