Overview
Blue Ventures works with coastal communities worldwide to restore marine ecosystems, strengthen fisheries and build sustainable ocean protection, placing local knowledge and leadership at the centre of conservation. It is seeking a Marine Spatial Data Analyst on a one-year maternity cover contract in its Data Science Team, starting 24 August 2026. The position is fully remote.
The analyst supports and stewards Blue Ventures' spatial data systems so that data products, dashboards and decision-support tools are reliable. Working with the Head of Spatial Ecology, the Ecological Data Scientist and the Data Science Team, the analyst manages and improves spatial data systems, keeps datasets accurate, documented and accessible, builds dashboards and visualisations, supports marine spatial planning analyses, creates user-focused conservation tools, maintains data workflows and works with field teams, partners and communities to understand their data needs. Occasional international travel may be needed to meet field teams, coastal communities and partners.
Requirements
Applicants should have experience with spatial datasets and GIS, strong data management and database administration skills, the ability to analyse complex environmental data, experience building visualisations and dashboards, problem-solving ability, and excellent communication and collaboration. They should work well independently in a remote setting and across cultures and time zones, show flexibility, have an interest in community-led conservation and be committed to using data for environmental impact.

Salary depends on location. In the United Kingdom it ranges from 46,121 to 79,763 pounds a year, and in the United States from USD 85,121 to 166,836. Ranges are also set for Belize, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar and Tanzania.
