Overview

The Ethereum Foundation (EF), a global non-profit that supports the Ethereum ecosystem and its development as open, neutral infrastructure, is hiring a Project Manager for Academic Engagements. The post is full-time and fully remote, and open to candidates worldwide. The Foundation allocates resources to projects within the ecosystem rather than operating like a traditional company. Its Academic Engagements team connects the ecosystem with researchers, universities and academic communities.

The Project Manager builds, scales and operationalises the Foundation's engagement with academic institutions globally, acting as a bridge between academic stakeholders and the Ethereum ecosystem. The job goes beyond ordinary project management, since it means understanding complex research questions, finding relevant academic expertise and creating partnerships that produce useful outcomes.

What you get

The source does not state salary or benefits. It does describe a fully remote role with a globally distributed team.

Requirements

Responsibilities include turning Ethereum research priorities into questions and frameworks that scholars in adjacent fields can engage with, finding researchers whose work overlaps with Ethereum's open questions, and building partnerships with universities, research labs and academic consortia. The manager also designs and scales programmes such as workshops, curriculum collaborations, hackathons, lecture series, academic events and research initiatives. Further duties are supporting the distribution of research through events, publications and content, developing funding pathways for academic research together with Funding Coordination, and tracking programme impact in clear reports.

Applicants need at least three years of professional experience managing academic programmes, research partnerships or university-industry collaborations, with a record of coordinating multi-stakeholder projects with measurable outcomes and experience working with distributed teams across time zones. A PhD and research experience are highly desirable. Candidates should understand research practices, including incentives, publication cycles and university administration, and be able to link Ethereum questions to wider scholarly debates. Knowledge of blockchain research or Ethereum fundamentals is highly desirable, though a purely technical background is not necessary.

The Foundation seeks a relationship builder with strong cross-cultural communication, good project planning and execution skills in changing environments, and comfort with tools such as Notion and Google Workspace.
