Overview

BD, a global medical technology company, is recruiting a Document Control Administrator for its Quality function in Canaan, Connecticut. The position is on a first shift schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. BD develops and manufactures medical technology products and employs people across design, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and other areas.

The administrator manages the lifecycle of company documents, including creating, revising and obsoleting them, and keeps physical and electronic records organized, accurate, current and accessible. Because BD works in a regulated industry, the role helps ensure documentation meets company policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements, with the vacancy referring specifically to FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485.

Other duties include managing revisions and version control, updating the SAP document management system and related databases, supporting specification deviations, experimental work orders and corrective-action documentation, and handling document updates tied to engineering changes and process improvements. The administrator also acts as backup for the change management coordinator, audits documents for accuracy, prepares document-control reports, trains employees on procedures, works with engineering, quality assurance and manufacturing teams, looks for ways to make document control more efficient, and supports the C2C training system by updating curricula after ECO releases.

Requirements

Applicants need at least one year of experience in a similar role and a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree preferred. Strong computer skills are expected, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, databases and other software applications, along with good written and verbal communication. Experience handling documentation in a regulated industry or under ISO requirements is preferred. Experience with SAP, Access databases, C2C administration and Visio is also an advantage.

How to apply

Candidates apply through the BD careers platform. A strong application highlights document-control experience, computer skills, regulatory or ISO experience and any knowledge of SAP or database applications.
