Overview

Bilkent University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor within the Department of English Language and Literature, located in Ankara. The department offers an undergraduate program covering British, Irish, and postcolonial literatures from the medieval period to the present. The starting date for this post is September 2027.

Who can apply

Scholars with research interests in any subfield of British or global Anglophone literatures are welcome to apply, with particular encouragement for those specializing in poetry and medieval studies. Transatlantic and comparative approaches are welcome, though applicants working solely on United States literature will not be considered. Minimum requirements include having a Ph.D. in English or Comparative Literature in hand by May 2027, a good teaching record, and a clearly defined research agenda. Candidates must be able to offer specialized teaching in their research field and be prepared to teach across various genres and periods in English literature.
