Overview
Amnesty International is recruiting a Programme Officer, Charitable Trusts, in London for its Programme Funding and Partnerships Team. The advertised salary is 54,676 pounds per year. The post coordinates project management for income from Amnesty UK, Amnesty Canada and the Amnesty International Secretariat, working across programme, finance and governance teams on a portfolio of about 14 million pounds in annual funding.
The officer supports projects through the funding and implementation cycle, helping assess projects for funding, monitor progress and make sure restricted income is used as intended. They gather information from programme staff and International Finance for funding decisions, meetings and reporting, and prepare funding proposals and reports, and may prepare fundraising materials and support assessment grants. They also work with finance colleagues to monitor income and expenditure, produce financial reports for trustees and leadership, keep budgetary controls, track spending against approved funding and prepare forecasts. Managing several projects at once, tracking deadlines, milestones and reporting requirements, and flagging risks and opportunities are part of the role.
Requirements
Applicants should have experience as a Programme Officer, Project Coordinator or in a comparable role, including managing multiple projects and coordinating stakeholders with different interests. Understanding of project planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and reporting is expected, and experience in a charity, nonprofit or membership organisation is valuable. Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and time management are needed, along with the ability to work independently and in teams. An interest in human rights and international development is valuable.
