Overview

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is recruiting eight Regional Hub Directors as part of a major institutional transformation. These executive posts, graded EL4 with international terms and conditions, will lead newly created Regional Growth Hubs across Africa, overseeing the Bank's operations, investment portfolio, partnerships and development delivery in multiple countries. One Director is recruited for each hub.

The AfDB was established in 1964 and is Africa's multilateral development finance institution, with 81 member countries, including 54 African regional member countries. Under its 2023-2032 Ten-Year Strategy it is restructuring to speed up regional delivery and mobilise more investment, and the eight hubs are central to that model.

What the role involves

Each Director reports to a Vice President for Regional Operations and oversees country portfolios and regional offices. Responsibilities include leading regional operations, growing sovereign and private sector investment, mobilising financing and co-financing, developing regional infrastructure and integration projects, supporting Country Strategy Papers, speeding up implementation and disbursement, building multidisciplinary teams and representing the Bank with governments and partners. The positions involve frequent travel in the assigned region.
