Overview

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat is offering a Graphic Designer Internship for 2026 to final-year students. AfCFTA is a flagship project of the African Union's Agenda 2063, bringing together the AU's 55 Member States and eight Regional Economic Communities to create a single continental market of about 1.3 billion people with a combined GDP of roughly US$3.4 trillion. The internship introduces students to the Secretariat's work and gives them practical experience in a multicultural international setting.

The intern creates visual communication materials for digital platforms, events, campaigns and publications, helps keep the Secretariat's branding consistent, and contributes to multimedia work including motion graphics.

Who can apply

Applicants must be nationals of an African Union Member State residing in Ghana, and final-year, full-time students in a fully accredited degree programme at a recognised institution, studying graphic design, digital media, visual communication or a related field. They must be available for at least three months and be proficient in at least one AU working language: French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Kiswahili or Spanish. Fluency in another AU language is an advantage. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Applicants need skills in creating visuals for digital campaigns, websites and print, and proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and After Effects. Premiere Pro is an advantage. They must be willing to work in a multicultural team and follow institutional rules and values.

What you get

The Secretariat has no financial obligation towards interns, so travel, accommodation and living costs are the intern's responsibility and no travel compensation is paid. The internship is authorised initially for six months with one possible renewal, and interns may rotate to another department.

How to apply

Applicants register on the online recruitment system and complete the application with a motivation letter addressed to the Administration and Human Resources Directorate, a copy of a valid passport or identity card and a current CV. Selection runs through pre-screening, an interview and/or written test, an offer letter and possible reference checks.

Key dates

Applications close on 14 August 2026 at 11:59 p.m. UTC.
