Overview

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Young Professionals Program (YPP) 2027 is an entry-level recruitment programme for motivated early-career professionals who want a career in international development. Successful candidates join as Young Professionals (YP1) at ADB Headquarters in Manila, Philippines, and relocation is required, with reasonable relocation expenses covered. They may be assigned to an operations department, such as CCSD, PSOD, OMDP or a sector department, or to a direct operations support department such as ERDI or SPD. They report to the Director and/or designated technical international staff and may supervise junior team members.

What the role involves

Young Professionals contribute to Strategy 2030 and ADB's loans, grants, technical assistance, advice and knowledge work. In strategy and planning they help develop ADB policy and strategy and support research and analysis, including the development impact of operations. In project management they help develop, process and administer non-complex loans, grants and technical assistance projects and support the integration of ADB policies into project design. They also contribute to advocacy, knowledge sharing and knowledge building.

Who can apply

Applicants must be nationals of one of ADB's 69 members, spanning Asia and the Pacific plus a number of European and North American countries. They need a university degree in economics, finance, business administration, engineering, environment, law, social sciences, public policy or another relevant area, with a postgraduate degree preferred, and at least three years of relevant professional experience, though a PhD may be considered instead. They must be no more than 32 years old on joining and have written and verbal English proficiency.

How to apply

Applicants upload a CV and their most recent transcript. Shortlisted candidates take an online assessment, then a recorded video interview, then panel interviews in the first quarter of 2027. The initial appointment is three years, with benefits that may include housing, education and expatriate allowances, relocation support, a retirement plan, medical benefits, paid leave and insurance.
