Overview

The 2027 Call for Inputs on Climate Change and the Rights of Women and Girls invites contributions of evidence and recommendations for a United Nations report. Issued by the UN Working Group on Discrimination Against Women and Girls, this consultation seeks information on how climate change affects women and girls and how climate policies either protect their rights or reinforce existing inequalities. The collected evidence will inform international human rights reporting, and the resulting thematic report is scheduled to be presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council in June 2027.

Who can apply

Contributions are invited from civil society organizations, women’s rights groups, community-based organizations, environmental and climate justice organizations, human rights defenders, academic institutions, researchers, and other relevant stakeholders. The consultation is open to a broad range of stakeholders and is not limited to one profession, academic discipline, or type of organization.

What you get

Participants have the opportunity to bring relevant findings, research, and community experiences to the attention of an international human rights mechanism. The submissions will help the Working Group assess current approaches, identify shortcomings, and develop recommendations to address challenges related to climate change and gender equality.

Requirements

Submissions must be sent by email in Word document format. Contributions must not exceed 2,500 words or five pages and are accepted in English, French, and Spanish.

Key dates

The deadline for submissions is 31 October 2026 at 23:30 Geneva time. The thematic report is scheduled to be presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council in June 2027.
