2027–2028 APAICS Congressional Fellowship: A 12-Month Opportunity to Gain U.S. Congressional Policy and Legislative Experience
Overview
The 2027–2028 APAICS Congressional Fellowship is a 12-month opportunity held in Washington, D.C., designed for individuals interested in government, public policy, legislation, and civic engagement. Participants are placed in a congressional committee or office to undertake tasks comparable to a legislative aide. The experience aims to help participants build professional networks on Capitol Hill, gain practical policy experience, and deepen their understanding of the legislative process for future careers in nonprofit organizations, congressional offices, federal agencies, and the private sector. Fellows are not employees of the federal government, APAICS, or their host office, but instead receive a monthly educational stipend.
Requirements
Participants must meet twice every month as a cohort to engage in professional development opportunities and discuss their experiences. Fellows are also required to attend APAICS events, including the Annual Awards Gala and policy summits. Towards the end of the fellowship year, participants must deliver a public presentation on a policy topic of their choosing.
