Overview

The second call of the 2026 Junior Professional Officer Programme offers 22 positions for early-career professionals at international organizations and United Nations bodies. Hosts include IAEA, IOM, ITC, OECD-IEA, UNCCD, UNCTAD, UNECE, UNDP, UN-Habitat, the UN Secretariat, WFP, WHO and WIPO. Duty stations include Vienna, Erbil, Geneva, Paris, Bonn, Damascus, New York, Addis Ababa, Nairobi and N'Djamena.

The subject areas are wide, from human resources policy, migration and livelihoods, strategic planning and renewable energy to drought resilience and land management, critical minerals and green hydrogen, climate mitigation, socio-economic recovery, peacebuilding, housing and informal settlements, financial management, legal affairs, political affairs, disarmament, counter-terrorism, Internet governance, supply chain, public health and development cooperation.

Who can apply

The programme targets early-career professionals who have finished advanced studies and have some relevant experience. Requirements differ by vacancy, but most call for a relevant master's degree and two years of professional experience. The WFP Supply Chain Officer and WIPO Associate Program Officer roles ask for three years. English is generally required, and some posts need French, such as the WFP role in N'Djamena, while the IEA role accepts English or French. Position-specific technical skills, such as Excel or Microsoft Office, may also be required.

How to apply

Applicants should choose the position that best matches their degree, experience, sector background, skills and languages, and read the full vacancy description before applying, since the general announcement only summarises requirements. Recruitment continues virtually, and only the current version of the application form should be used. Because of the volume of applications, those not invited to interview will not receive rejection letters.
