2026:Cluster Director – South America at Plan International: Remote Leadership Opportunity
Overview
Plan International is recruiting a Cluster Director for South America, a full-time senior leadership position. The role can be performed remotely from Ecuador, Paraguay or Peru and pays a salary of at least USD $70,000 per year. The Cluster Director gives strategic direction across the South America Cluster, working with Country Representatives and senior teams to strengthen organisational performance, programme delivery, financial management, humanitarian preparedness and long-term sustainability.
This is an organisational leadership post covering several countries and functions, rather than a role centred on individual projects or technical programme management.
What you get
The salary starts at USD $70,000 annually. The expected start date is October 26, 2026. The role includes approximately 50% regional travel.
Responsibilities include leading and supporting Country Representatives on country strategies, overseeing organisational performance, programme impact, financial management and compliance, and leading the Cluster Management Team. The Director also provides oversight of development and humanitarian programming, including emergency response, manages cluster planning, budgets, resource allocation and risks, supports business development and resource mobilisation, builds relationships with donors, governments, UN agencies and partners, and promotes safeguarding, gender equality, inclusion and an inclusive workplace culture.
Who can apply
Plan International wants candidates who have held significant leadership roles at country, regional or multi-country level, such as Country Director, Deputy Country Director, Regional Director, Humanitarian Director or Regional Operations Director. Experience in international development or humanitarian settings, including managing senior multidisciplinary teams across locations, is expected, as is knowledge of child rights, gender equality and girls' rights. Experience with institutional donors, compliance, resource mobilisation and financial management is also expected.
Requirements
A relevant four-year university degree is required, along with professional fluency in English and Spanish. Applicants must already have legal authorisation to work in Ecuador, Paraguay or Peru; the role is not offered as work-from-anywhere.
