Working Student – Piping System, Propulsion (m/f/d)
Overview
Isar Aerospace SE, a privately funded New Space company developing launch solutions for small and medium-sized satellites and constellations into Low Earth Orbit, is seeking a Working Student for the Propulsion department at its site in Parsdorf, Bavaria. The Integrated Engine Design team shapes the architecture of the Sea Level and Vacuum engines, integrates every subsystem into one compact and reliable package, and designs, analyses and tests the piping and structural components that hold the engine together.
The working student contributes to the development and modelling of the piping system of the newest engines, including secondary lines and sensor capillaries. The work affects flight hardware, and the student sees designs progress from CAD through manufacturing to testing.
What you will do
Tasks include modelling secondary lines in 3D from fluid schematics, preparing drawings and taking designs through the hardware approval process, and tracking manufacturing orders and external procurement of piping components. The student also runs clearance and accessibility checks inside the engine, helps implement engineering change requests for active designs and supports the team with general CAD work.
Requirements
Applicants should be enrolled in a bachelor's programme in aerospace or mechanical engineering or a related field, in at least their third semester, and have hands-on 3D modelling experience from internships, university projects or student teams. Good knowledge of CAD tools, ideally Siemens NX, is expected, along with a good understanding of fluid and mechanical systems, a pragmatic and focused approach that meets design release dates, clear communication and fluent English. Bonus skills are hands-on experience with piping or tubing, knowledge of manufacturing principles and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, familiarity with rocket engine fluid schematics and experience with engine instrumentation.
What you get
Benefits include subsidised daily lunches, a flexible mobility budget with a choice between a fully financed Deutschlandticket and a fuel allowance, sponsored sports club membership, free snacks and drinks, and free online support from psychologists and lifestyle experts for the employee and family.
Due to security clearance requirements, affiliations with certain countries listed in German security legislation may affect the application process.
