WCD Internship 2026 – Earn ₹20,000 Monthly Stipend, Accommodation & Travel Benefits
Overview
India's Ministry of Women and Child Development runs an internship programme in New Delhi that lets participants engage with research, policy processes and the implementation of government schemes. Each internship lasts two months, and the Ministry offers four terms during the financial year: May to June, August to September, November to December, and February to March. Interns can contribute through research, empirical analysis, reports, policy papers and policy briefs connected to government initiatives.
Who can apply
The programme is open to women students, scholars, social activists and teachers who are enrolled in or associated with a university or an academic or non-academic institution. Applicants must be aged 21 to 40 and come from non-Tier-I cities or rural areas of India. A candidate who has already been selected for the internship cannot apply for a later term.
What you get
Selected interns receive a stipend of 20,000 rupees per month, which comes to 40,000 rupees over a full two-month term. They also receive free shared hostel accommodation in New Delhi, and the Ministry reimburses round-trip AC train or bus travel, which helps applicants who live outside the capital.
How to apply
Applications are submitted online through the Ministry's internship programme portal. Applications for each term are accepted two months before it begins, between the 1st and 10th of the relevant month. For example, applications for the August to September term are accepted from 1 to 10 June. Applicants should prepare the required information and documents beforehand and make sure all details are accurate.
