Overview

The Taiwan International Internship Program (IIP) is a fully funded two-month research internship run within the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP). TIGP is jointly organized by Academia Sinica and leading Taiwanese universities, with the aim of training international talent in interdisciplinary research. The internship takes place at Academia Sinica in Taipei or at a partner university.

What you get

All costs are covered by the program. Interns are housed in on-campus accommodation and receive a tax-free allowance of NTD 30,000 per month, roughly USD 1,000, for the two months. TIGP pays NTD 20,000 of this each month, and the sponsoring faculty member adds a further NTD 10,000. Interns also receive half of the cheapest round-trip economy airfare.

The program includes an orientation introducing Academia Sinica and TIGP, visits to TIGP partner institutions, tourist excursions and free basic Chinese language classes. At the end, interns submit a report or give a presentation on their research project, take part in a poster presentation, and attend a certificate delivery ceremony.
