OECD Internships 2026: Paid International Opportunities for Students
Overview
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) takes interns on a rolling basis throughout the year. Interns work alongside policy experts on economic, social, environmental, digital, education, employment, governance, finance and development policy. Placements last one to six months and can be renewed up to twelve months. The standard schedule is full-time, 40 hours per week, and part-time placements of at least 20 hours weekly are possible in exceptional cases.
Most internships are based at OECD headquarters in Paris, though depending on team needs interns may work in person, in hybrid format or remotely.
What you do
Assignments vary by directorate and team. Interns may prepare studies and documents, research, collect and analyse data, contribute to working papers and publications, draft notes, take part in meetings and seminars, and support events, communications, planning and evaluation. Policy areas include agriculture and fisheries, climate change, development, digital policy, economics, education and skills, employment, environment, finance and investment, governance, health, taxation, trade, and science and technology. Corporate functions include audit, communications, finance, human resources, information technology, legal services, administration and translation.
Who can apply
Applicants must stay enrolled in an accredited degree programme, whether bachelor's, master's or PhD, for the whole internship, in a field related to the OECD's work, and be available for at least one month. Internships go primarily to nationals of OECD member countries, while non-member nationals may be eligible for certain programmes and projects.
What you get
Interns in Paris receive an allowance of €1,000 per full month worked, which is a contribution to living expenses rather than a salary. They earn 2.5 days of annual leave per full month and observe French public holidays. Accommodation is not provided, but guidance on housing is given, and visa assistance may be offered when required.
Requirements
Excellent English or French is needed, plus working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the other language. Good quantitative and IT skills, strong drafting and communication and teamwork in multicultural settings are expected.
How to apply
Apply year-round through the OECD online recruitment platform with a cover letter in the hiring-manager message field. The Internship Office pre-screens applications, and candidates may face interviews or written tests. Selection can take up to three months, so applying well in advance is advised.
