Overview

JPMorgan Chase is offering its 2027 Sydney Traineeship Program, a paid, full-time, two-year programme for Year 12 students who want to start a career in financial services without going straight to university. It is based at 85 Castlereagh St, Sydney, NSW 2000, Australia, and runs from March 2027 to March 2029. Trainees are placed in either the Operations track or the Finance & Business Management track, depending on business needs, and complete the Financial Markets Certificate from the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA).

What you get

In the Operations track, trainees help optimize services and solutions for global clients, with work involving business operations, process management, risk identification, process improvement and automation. In Finance & Business Management, they gain exposure to financial analysis, reporting and business management, and may contribute to local regulatory reporting, month-end close, financial controls, budgeting, forecasting and projects on new products or system implementation. Across both tracks, trainees help identify and reduce risks, support the accuracy of financial statements, prepare analysis reports, help develop procedures and take part in automation initiatives and company people initiatives. The programme is paid and provides professional development alongside the industry qualification.

Who can apply

Applicants must be current Year 12 students who will obtain their high school certificate before the programme begins, and must not have started or completed a degree, Certificate IV or higher when it starts. They must be Australian citizens or Permanent Residents, available for full-time work from March 2027 and willing to commit to the full two years. Attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills, teamwork and the ability to manage several responsibilities in a fast-paced setting are expected. Trainees cannot enrol in other study during the programme.

How to apply

Applications need a résumé and answers to all application questions. Candidates who progress are invited to a mandatory HireVue video interview, generally within 48 hours. Screening is rolling, so applications may close once positions are filled.

Key dates

Applications are open from August through November 2026, with a deadline of 20 November 2026 at 12:00 noon AEDT.
