FSSAI Internship Job 2026: Paid Opportunities in Food Safety, Nutrition and Technology
Overview
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India runs an internship scheme that lets students gain practical experience with the national authority responsible for food safety standards and regulation. Placements are available at its headquarters, regional offices and national food laboratories, and span food science, nutrition, microbiology, agriculture, public health, biotechnology, information technology, law, policy, communications and administration. The scheme is described as a link between academia and the food sector, with interns working on live projects.
Who can apply
Applicants must be pursuing a full-time graduate, postgraduate or higher degree at a recognized institute in India or abroad. Eligible fields include chemistry, biochemistry, food technology, food science, nutrition, microbiology, dairy technology, agricultural and horticultural sciences, toxicology, public health, life sciences, biotechnology and food safety and quality assurance. Business administration, journalism, mass communication, public relations, public policy, public administration, law, library and information science and selected computer science or IT programmes also qualify. B.E. and B.Tech computer-related applicants must be in their third or fourth year.
What you get
Internships are offered quarterly and generally last between two and six months. A stipend of Rs. 10,000 for the whole period may be given to deserving interns, depending on attendance, assessment by reporting officers and evaluation of the final report or presentation. It is not automatic. Interns receive a certificate after finishing and submitting the final report or presentation. Working space and internet are provided, and interns may need their own laptop. Local lodging and travel are not covered. Preferred locations and departments are indicative and do not guarantee placement.
How to apply
Applicants complete an online form with personal, academic and contact details and educational history from secondary level. They write three short responses of up to 500 characters on major projects, area of interest and reasons for choosing the authority, and upload a JPG or PNG photograph and, where relevant, a PDF resume. An SMS with a unique Applicant ID is sent after saving or submitting, and changes are not possible after final submission. No application fee is charged.
