Overview

The Foundation for American Innovation (FAI) is seeking interns for its Artificial Intelligence Policy Team. FAI champions the technology, talent and ideas it considers essential to American prosperity, security and flourishing, and describes its people as builders, hackers and scholars who align technology with human ends. The AI team is recruiting interns for the fall, September to December, with some flexibility on start and end dates.

Interns support the team's research and can carry out their own independent research project during the internship. By the end, each intern develops a publishable or shippable product.

Responsibilities include supporting the team's ongoing research, policy analysis and coalition work, and contributing to briefs, memos and outreach materials. Interns also develop and pitch an original research project with their director and the policy team, and carry it to a publishable or finished deliverable. They help with team events, coalition initiatives and external outreach.

What you get

Interns are paid $20 an hour. Housing is not provided, and interns arrange their own travel and living and should bring their own laptop.

Requirements

Applicants should be authorised to work in the United States. They must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs frequently during the workday, as the multi-story facility has no elevator access.

How to apply

In-person internships at FAI's Washington, DC office on Capitol Hill are preferred, though temporary remote work will be considered for exceptional candidates. Both full-time and part-time internships are available. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are submitted online.
