Overview

Quantumdiamonds offers an internship position for an Electromagnetic Simulation Intern within the Data Science and Machine Learning team in Pre-Development. The intern will work on simulating how the Quantum Diamond Microscope views real chip structures, predicting measurements, comparing them with real data, and helping develop an automated simulation workflow. Mentorship is provided by an experienced colleague. The internship is based at the company headquarters in Munich.

Requirements

Applicants must be enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates need hands-on experience with finite element method simulation, preferably using electromagnetic solvers such as Ansys HFSS, Maxwell, CST, or COMSOL. A good understanding of electromagnetism, including Maxwell equations, near fields, skin effect, and eddy currents, is required alongside fluency in Python and the scientific stack, version control practices, and clean code writing. Applicants must be fluent in English, able to work on-site in Munich, and available full-time for a duration of six months starting as soon as possible. Experience in radio frequency or microwave engineering and an interest in semiconductors are considered beneficial.

What you get

The position is a full-time, six-month internship that includes a company-sponsored Wellpass membership for access to gyms, classes, and wellness offers across Germany. Interns receive 24 vacation days in addition to public holidays.
