Overview

Duacare Support Solutions offers student placements in Valley View, South Australia, for students in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or Nursing who need practical placement hours. Duacare provides compassionate, person-centred support to people with disabilities, helping them live independently, pursue their goals and take part in their communities. The placement is in person, and students work alongside experienced Support Workers.

What you get

Students assist Support Workers in delivering individualized support in line with clients' NDIS plans. They may help with daily routines, community access, social outings and skill-building activities. They also learn to keep records such as daily shift reports, progress notes and client communication logs, and follow duty-of-care requirements, workplace health and safety procedures and NDIS Quality and Safeguards standards. The placement gives structured experience toward required placement hours, guidance from experienced staff and a clearer view of NDIS-based support work. The company says there may be a pathway to casual or permanent employment after successful completion of the placement and qualification, but employment is not guaranteed.

Who can apply

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a relevant qualification, such as Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, disability studies, community services, nursing, or related diploma or degree courses. The placement suits students whose courses require practical workplace experience.

Requirements

Applicants need a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check or the ability to obtain one, and a current First Aid and CPR certificate. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, an empathetic approach, reliability, punctuality and a commitment to participant dignity and choice are important.
