Overview

Axon is a company focused on safety and justice that builds devices and cloud software with the mission of protecting life. It is offering a Working Student position as a DSP Engineer on its RF Engineering team in Kassel, Hesse, Germany. The role reports to the Team Lead.

The position gives students a hands-on way to apply signal processing knowledge to a real product that helps keep people and critical infrastructure safe. The student works with experienced DSP engineers to prototype algorithms, analyse real RF captures and build tooling that helps detect and classify drones. They are expected to grow practical DSP and software skills on real-world data, with mentorship and room to take ownership of meaningful pieces of work.

Tasks include helping prototype, implement and test DSP algorithms in Python and C++, analysing recorded RF and I/Q captures and characterising drone and controller signals, building and improving scripts and tooling for signal analysis, data handling and visualisation, and running experiments and documenting results that support detection and classification work.

Who can apply

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's programme in electrical engineering, communications engineering, computer science or a related field. Some roles at Axon may require legal eligibility to work in a firearms environment. Axon encourages people who do not meet every requirement to apply.

Requirements

Candidates need coursework or project experience in DSP fundamentals such as sampling, filtering, FFT and spectral analysis and modulation, programming experience in Python or C++, genuine curiosity about RF and wireless and signal processing, and good English communication. German is a plus.

What you get

The role is based in the Kassel office on a hybrid schedule. Team members work on site Tuesday to Friday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays unless an accommodation is approved.
