Overview

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is recruiting two interns in Copenhagen, Denmark, for Spring 2027 (Job ID 176851). One joins the Global Foundations team and the other the Institutional Donor Unit, both within the Partnerships, Advocacy, Engagement and Resource Mobilization Department. The teams work with colleagues in Copenhagen, Brussels, Geneva, London, Kyiv and Berlin. Interns manage individual assignments and help with research, coordination, fundraising, communication, knowledge management, meetings and workshops.

The internships start in February 2027, last four to six months and involve about 30 hours per week, with flexibility around university obligations.

What you get

The internship is unpaid. Interns receive 2.08 unpaid vacation days per month, free lunch when the canteen is open and free participation in the year-end party.

Who can apply

Applicants must be enrolled at a university for the whole internship. Relevant fields include International Relations, Political Science and Development Studies. Applicants without the right to work in Denmark may need authorization if selected, which DRC supports but which can take up to three months.

Requirements

Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory. Arabic, French and other languages are advantageous, and Danish helps for Global Foundations because of the team's work with Danish foundations. Candidates need strong communication, organization, attention to detail and independence, plus Microsoft Office 365. Canva, Adobe Suite or similar tools and experience using AI tools for research and workflow are desirable.

The Global Foundations intern supports research on philanthropic trends, maps potential foundation donors, helps with due diligence, creates communication materials, tracks foundation engagement for quarterly updates and supports proposals, reporting, workshops and events. The Institutional Donor Unit intern works with donors such as the European Commission, UN agencies and bilateral donors, supports record keeping and trackers, builds internal knowledge pages, contributes to donor presentations, briefing notes, advocacy documents and case studies, and helps with donor visits, proposals and reporting.

How to apply

Candidates submit a cover letter, an English CV of no more than four pages and proof of university enrollment. Those interested in both roles should say so in the cover letter. Emailed applications are not considered.

Key dates

The closing date is 11 October 2026, and interviews are expected from 19 to 21 October 2026, subject to confirmation.
