Associate Data Scientist - Intern
Overview
Monzo, the UK digital bank, is offering a Data internship for summer 2027 based in London. Monzo has over 300 people in its Data function, whose work shapes the direction of the business, from machine learning models that block fraudulent payments to analysis of how customers use the app. Interns are matched with a team and spend the summer on a real project for customers.
What you will do
Interns learn how commercial products work and how data-led decisions create more value for customers, try new data techniques on difficult problems, and turn raw data into customer stories through models, analysis and visualisations that shape product and app design. They also build an understanding of the nuances of Monzo's data as groundwork for new products and features. Tools include Python for wrangling, analysis and predictive work, SQL for modelling and gathering data, Looker for visualisation and spreadsheets for analysis.
Who can apply
Candidates should be completing a degree in a STEM subject or Computer Science with some programming exposure and graduating in 2028. They should enjoy learning new technologies and solving problems, be available full time for at least 12 weeks between June and September 2027, with two June start dates available, and have unrestricted right to work in the UK for the full internship without needing visa sponsorship for a permanent role. Hybrid work from the London office is expected.
What you get
Pay is 42,500 pounds pro rata. The role is hybrid with two days a week in the London office, with flexible full-time hours, a high-specification laptop, knowledge-sharing sessions, team and company events and lunch twice a week.
Key dates
Applications close on 1 November 2026, with offers made on a rolling basis. The process includes an application, a programming and problem-solving exercise and final interviews with the data team.
