Applied AI, Forward Deployed Machine Learning Engineer - (Internship)
Overview
Mistral AI, which provides full-stack AI from frontier models to developer tools, applications and compute, is offering a six-month Applied AI internship in Paris on its Solutions side, as a forward deployed machine learning engineer. Mistral partners with enterprises in high-stakes industries such as finance, manufacturing, defence, healthcare and the public sector to co-create customised AI systems that they can run on their own terms. The company is open to CIFRE programmes as a continuation after the internship.
What you will do
The intern works closely with the Applied AI Engineering team to help customers adopt Mistral products and to solve complex technical challenges with them. Tasks include contributing to the deployment of state-of-the-art generative AI applications, collaborating with researchers, AI engineers and product engineers on complex customer projects, and working with the product and science teams to keep improving the product and model capabilities based on customer feedback.
The team describes its way of working as low-ego and high-standards, with direct feedback, little bureaucracy, an emphasis on what gets shipped, and an unstructured environment.
Who can apply
Candidates should be pursuing a degree in AI, data science or a related field at a tier 1 engineering school or university. The internship is available only in France, and applicants must have the work authorisation needed to complete the full internship there.
Requirements
Strong Python skills are required, together with familiarity with machine learning algorithms and natural language processing, a basic understanding of MLOps and of deploying machine learning use cases, and good communication with both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, version control with Git, the Linux shell, work in high-performance computing environments and a publication record in AI are desirable.
What you get
Benefits vary by country and may include healthcare, parental leave, retirement plans, relocation support, wellness programmes and meal and transport allowances.
